STARKON’s client requested the removal and installation of several gantry wheel shafts for modification purposes. After more than 13 years of service, removing these shafts from the wheels requires proper tools and craftmanship to avoid any damage to the parts that are to be re-used.
In STARKON’s workshop, the proper tools and equipment are present to perform these kinds of jobs. 400 Tons of available pressing capacity combined with cord induction equipment to properly heat the wheels were used, and all shafts were removed without damaging any of the bores.
After removing the old shafts, the wheels were prepared to install new shafts followed by the remaining components. After some new conservation and proper greasing, all is ready to be re-installed under the crane.
