STARKON’s client requested the removal and installation of several gantry wheel shafts. Through over a decade of experience in all kinds of industrial services, STARKON knows that removing these shafts from the wheels requires proper tools and craftmanship to avoid damage to the parts to be re-used.
In STARKON’s workshop, the proper tools and equipment are present to perform these kinds of jobs. Our overhead crane and 400 Tons of available pressing capacity combined with cord induction equipment to properly heat the wheels were used. All shafts were removed without damaging any of the bores.
After removing the old shafts, the wheels were prepared for the installation of new shafts by using “carbon dioxide ice” (dry ice), followed by the new bearings remaining components. After some new conservation and proper greasing, all is ready to be re-installed under the crane.
