STARKON’s client normally requests work such as inspection, repair, or maintenance, to keep their equipment in good condition. As with many, if not all products, they do eventually reach the end of their lifespan. We were asked to dismantle the client’s equipment. The challenge here is that if you are asked to dismantle equipment you did not assemble yourself, it is hard as you are used to building something in a structured way.
STARKON’s motto/mentality is: “open to opportunities (challenges) other than the standard”. As mentioned within “The challenge”, terminal equipment such as these straddle carriers are not our core business; dismantling is new, however, repairing and maintaining several parts of these are common for us to do. After drawing up the working method and discussing it with the customer and operational team, we started with the most important point in mind: safety. This will ensure controlled dismantling.
STARKON can add a new discipline to their portfolio; demolition work of terminal equipment, that can or should be brought to their final resting place in a controlled manner. STARKON’s team ensured the job was done safely without any “unplanned damage”. Yet another satisfied customer! #teamstarkon!
